Antarctica, The Falklands and South Georgia Islands
In Oct./Nov.2008 we had the marvelous opportunity to be on two back-to-back photo expeditions aboard the National Geographic Endeavour. The first started in Ushuaia, Argentina sailing for two weeks. It took two days to get to the Falkland Islands and then another two days on to South Georgia, where we spent six days. We then repeated the route back to Ushuaia.
We stayed aboard the ship for it’s first two-week trip of the season down to the Antarctic Peninsula. This was our second trip down to the peninsula, the first being in January 2002. On these two trips in 2008 we were grateful to be traveling with the National Geographic Photographers; Flip Nicklin and Kevin Schafer, and the Photo Team of Jack and Rikki Swenson.
