Petting Whales in the Baja

The first couple of days on our two week cruise aboard the National Geographic Sea Lion in April, 2014 took us north to San Ignacio Lagoon on the Pacific side of the Baja. We each had three rides into the lagoon where you always hope that the whales will come up to your zodiac (rubber boat). I was fortunate on all three outings. Here, the gray whales have had their calves and are waiting for them to get large enough and strong enough for the long swim up to the waters off Alaska where they spend the summer months feeding. This is one of the few places where the whales come up to our boats to interact with us; an awesome experience.
