Every year, Portland, Oregon has a "Rose Festival" and one event during that time is a three-day Hot Air Festival, We got up very early this year to go to Cooks Park in Tigard to watch the balloons being set up, and lift off into a beautiful blue sky. There were well over a dozen balloons, and they took off one at a time. Since there was very little wind, they hung around close for a short while until they got high enough to catch a breeze. We joined many photographers, and others to enjoy this fun event.

Tubac Golf Resort has hosted a "Balloon Glow" event in the fall for several years. This is where hot air balloon owners bring in their balloons, fill them with hot air and let them rise to the extent of their tether. Since it is a night event, they just stay put and glow whenever the burner is lit to add more hot air. It is a beautiful sight, and when photographed from across the small pond, there are great reflections. Click on a picture to enlarge it.
